Daytrip to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals
North Alabama offers some of the best public golf
courses available, and Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the
Shoals is one of them. This course not only attracts
the golf lovers but also attracts tourists. Golfing is a real
pleasure at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals, which
is situated beside the Tennessee River - in between two
dams on this river - Wheeler and Wilson. And it is
great to be able to settle down on your nearby mountain property in The
Bluffs after a challenging day of golf at The Shoals.
Inside RTJ Golf Trail you will find two wonderful
golf courses – Fighting Joe and The Schoolmaster. These two courses
were developed in memory of two great Americans - General Joseph
Wheeler and former US President Woodrow Wilson. General Joseph
Wheeler was a brave US Army soldier and was famous as Fighting Joe.
Fighting Joe
Fighting Joe is the longest yardage course in the
RTJ Trail at the Shoals. The course is very traditional and the
measurement of this course from the Black Tee is 8092 yards. The course
is very long and perfect for golfers who love to play straightforward
golf. Both 17th and 18th holes of this course are famous for impressive
natural beauty. The signature hole of Fighting Joe is the 17th hole.
The other attraction is its 18th hole, which also gives you an amazing
view of Wilson Lake on the Tennessee River.
The Schoolmaster
The Schoolmaster is another course inside RTJ
Trail at the Shoals. This second course of RTJ Trail at the Shoals is
named in memory of former US President Mr. Woodrow Wilson, who was
known as ‘The Schoolmaster of Politics’. President Wilson is also
popular for his contribution for building the Wilson Dam on the
Tennessee River. The Schoolmaster course is comparatively tougher than
the other course i.e. Fighting Joe. This traditional golf course also
lets you enjoy serene natural beauty of the Tennessee
River.
